Carly Gassman

Carly Marie Gassman was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March of 2012. After four brain surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, Carly lost her battle on March 14, 2014 at the age of 18. Carly grew up in Abilene and was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church. She graduated from St. Andrew Grade School, and Abilene High School where she was an excellent student receiving only one B her entire high school career. Carly was very involved in numerous extracurricular activities and received all league honors in volleyball, basketball, and softball. After high school, Carly attended Kansas State University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority and majored in pre-nursing. She finished her first semester of college with a 4.0 GPA. Carly inspired the acronym “PFCG,” standing for Pray For Carly Gassman, to be seen all around central Kansas on purple wristbands, t-shirts, and all over social media. Her contagious smile, inspirational attitude, and radiant personality is missed every day. It is safe to say Carly impacted a large number of people throughout her lifetime and still continues to do so.
