Debbie Toms

Deborah Lynn “Debbie” Toms, 58, passed away on August 12, 2011.

Debbie was diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor in April 2011. She handled her illness with faith and dignity and never considered herself sick. She was a living example of understanding God’s plan and pleasing Him.

Debbie had a special love of life and lived it with unwavering faith. Many people who have known Debbie have grown stronger in their faith because of her example.

Debbie had worked as an Intensive Care nurse for the past 20 years along with four years in the cath lab and two years in the Cardiovascular Specialists of Lawrence office. She devoted her life to her two boys, family, friends and her patients. She loved volunteering for the “Go Red for Women” against heart disease.

Debbie’s patients always loved her and felt connected to her. She was the type of nurse who made friends with her patients as well as with all the people around her at work. The physicians always knew their patients were in great hands with Debbie. Best of all Debbie had a way of carrying herself with a smile even when times could be tough in her life and even during her sickness.

Debbie, we miss your smile and the fun that you brought to Lawrence Memorial and hope that the inspiration you made on so many of us in the medical field can continue to grow until we meet again someday.
