Diane Charlton

Diane Charlton, age 55, passed away on June 30, 2005 after an 11-month battle against Glioblastoma Multiforme. Diane was born on February 2, 1950 in Onaga, KS, to Louis and Angela Walsh before moving to Kansas City, KS, in 1952. Diane graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1968. She then went on to receive an executive secretarial training certificate from Draughon’s Business College in downtown Kansas City, MO.

Diane married Mike Charlton on October 13, 1973, and together they raised three wonderful children. Diane worked for the Folgers Coffee Company for several years before joining the accounting firm of Schulteis and Walsh in Prairie Village, KS, where she worked for 20 years before her death.

Diane was always “on the go.” On the weekends you could either find her with friends, at the pool, at the mall, at the Lake of the Ozarks or on one of her many family vacations to places like Cabo San Lucas and the Bahamas. Diane was also an avid sports fan; always watching NFL football and her beloved Kansas Jayhawks.

Diane was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She is survived by her husband Mike of Shawnee, KS, and her three children, son Shane of Shawnee, KS; daughter Megan Miller and husband Chris of Lincoln, NE, along with grandson Harrison Louis and granddaughter Eloise Diane; and daughter McKenzie Ek and husband Andy of Andover, KS, along with grandson Greyson Donald. She is also survived by her brother Pat Walsh and wife Nancy of Leawood, KS; brother Mike Walsh and wife Diane of Lenexa, KS; and brother Tim Walsh and wife Jennifer of Shawnee, KS; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Diane left behind many family and friends who miss her dearly. Her loved ones are so thankful that she found peace after this disease took her life, and they know that Diane was welcomed into heaven by her mom. She is sun bathing by the pool, shopping for that perfect buy, watching her sports, decorating her home and sipping on that refreshing cocktail while looking her best, and we are thankful that she is able to do all of this again while watching over us from above.
