In Remembrance

Our precious mom went to be with the Lord on May 12th, 2014. We are very thankful that she is no longer suffering and in pain as these last weeks and days especially were very hard as her body was shutting down. We were all able to be with her as she passed from this life to the next, and she went very peacefully, wearing her Jo’s Hope shirt which was printed with the words of Isaiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Our mom is now in the presence of God and has a new and perfect body. We picture her running and jumping, laughing and smiling, and sitting contentedly at the feet of Jesus. We think about all of those who have gone to heaven before her that she is getting to meet, and all of those who have yet to arrive that she will one day help to welcome in. We look forward to that day when we get to see her again!

Thank you for all of your love and support for our mom and us on her journey with brain cancer. She never once complained “why me?” about her diagnosis. What she always said was something she said in an early Caring Bridge post – “I do feel overwhelmed at knowing I have cancer, and wondering what God has for me in this. I have been calling this my new ministry. I didn’t ask for this but I trust that God has already made me for it.” She saw her cancer as an opportunity to point people to the love and hope of Jesus Christ, and that if anyone came to know Him as a result of it, she said it was all worth it. We pray that yours was one of the many lives she touched.

As for our mom’s hot air balloon miracle? We think she got it. We prayed with her in her final days that God would lift her brain tumor up our of her head like a hot air balloon as He lifted her spirit up to heaven to be with Him, and that’s where she is now. Hot air balloons will continue to be a beautiful sign of hope for our family 🙂

We are blessed to have spent this Mother’s Day by our mom’s side. We cannot express how thankful we are for our mom, her beautiful heart, and her amazing example. We pray that we would follow in her footsteps and live with the same hope and love that she did.

We love you, mom!
