Mason Kempf

“I am running through the fields with strawberries so red, as snow falls on my head.

Loved ones embrace, the tigers and I are having a race.

Thank you Jesus, I am ME once more, rejoice my friends; Heaven opened the door…

Remember me, live, love, laugh… I AM FREE!!”

Mason Arik Kempf
6/21/2001- 3/29/2011

Mason taught us to Live, Laugh, Love. He taught us to treasure every day, whether it’s splashing in a fountain, tubing on the lake or riding Great Grandpa’s Harley. He taught us to capture the magic of each season, chasing rainbows the first day of spring, the first SPLASH in summer, jumping in the biggest pile of leaves in fall, and catching that first snowflake of winter. He taught us all how to observe each season.

He defined courage and bravery, a true hero. Showing us strength no matter what life may deliver. He filled each day with laughter. By sharing an ice cream, blowing bubbles with your sister, a creative moment with your brother, or spinning in a tea cup at Disney. He taught us to celebrate every day, not just holidays. He showed us the power of LOVE. He brought us together as a family. The world is our family. We are one.

Mason showed us a world full of kindness. That God’s love is powerful and everlasting. He taught us the true meaning of friendship and that every one of us matters. All creatures great and small have a purpose. He made us all AWARE by standing up for what he believed in.

Mason was determined to help find a cure for cancer. He participated in his first 5K, Head for the Cure, in 2010. He helped spread awareness of childhood cancer with a parade. His love for learning never ceased, always asking questions. Eager to capture all life had to offer. He loved swimming, biking, and playing soccer. He also participated in Boy Scouts Pack 3375.

Tigers were Mason’s favorite animal and close to his heart from the start. He enjoyed taking care of his cat, Oreo and dog, Rex. He loved photography. His first movie, titled Beauty A to Z, was made from a combination of photographs. His movie won 1st prize in the Kansas PTA Reflection Contest. He was the typical boy playing Wii games, building Legos and playing Star Wars. But most of all Mason was a friend to anyone he met, sometimes quiet, but his smile lit up the room.

Mason, the strength of a tiger with the eyes of an angel. Mason’s legacy will forever live on as we strive every day to Make a Difference in his name.
