In Remembrance

Untitled-3

Robert (Bob) Rankin

Two tumors were found in Dad’s brain on April 1, 2008. He had surgery two days later, and they tried to remove as much of the tumors as possible. He was diagnosed with a Grade 4 Gliobalstoma Multiforme, a cancer that continues to multiply. He received Temodar (a chemotherapy) and radiation therapy. He completed his radiation therapy in June 2008, and the Temodar was stopped after it decreased his white blood cell and platelet count. The area of the brain that the cancer was found is the motor area of the brain, thus the cancer was affecting all of Dad’s motor reaction, and all the drugs made him very weak. On Aug. 3, 2008, Dad’s new journey began with God as Jesus came down to carry him to heaven.

The words above are from Dad’s CaringBridge website. What it doesn’t tell you is who Bob Rankin was. Bob Rankin was a son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend and much more. He related to people in such a way that people came to him. You walked away feeling better about life. I miss my several-times-a-week chats with him – yes, I still talk to him often. I miss hearing his voice, his laugh and seeing his smile. Almost three years later, we can still witness the path of love he left behind. We are now blessed to have a very special angel in heaven to guide and watch over us. Love to you, Dad … Pumpkin
