Steven Paul “CHIP” Kolbek

Steven Paul Kolbek was born on May 15, 1949. He was known to his family and friends as “Chip” and he was a great man. He was my Uncle. As a young boy he enjoyed baseball and then played highschool Football. He loved watching roller derby and car racing. He served his country as a Marine air traffic controller for 22 years and was an instructor at the Millington Naval Air Base before retiring. He served in the Vietnam War & the Persian Gulf War.

My fondest memories of him were his stories. He would share his life’s trips and experiences. He always pointed out the good in his stories even when he was surrounded by war & destruction. He was always laughing and it was contagious!

My Uncle Chip fought hard against his cancer, but was taken to Heaven on February 20, 2009 where he was reunited with my family’s lost loved ones…..
