Stevie Crowder Patrick

The best person that many of us will ever know in this lifetime, as well as lifetimes to come, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 26, 2013. Stevie’s three-and-a-half-year battle with brain cancer could not stop her love and devotion for Christ and the promises that we have from him.

Stevie was born May 5, 1982, in Stillwater, Okla., to Steve and Suzie Crowder. Stevie’s God-given uniqueness and enthusiasm for life carried her though childhood in Drumright and Cushing, Okla. She attended college in Waco, Texas, at Baylor University and graduated with a degree in speech communications in 2004. She and Damen married in December, 2005. In 2007, Stevie started her own personal training business, Texas Boot Camp, and used this s her ministry to reach so many people.

Stevie had a unique understanding of the characteristics God would like for us to pursue and live by, and she was a master at applying them to what matters the most to God-people. In a single encounter, Stevie would leave a lasting impression on anyone she met. She viewed everyone with love, always having a kind word of encouragement or sincerity, even for strangers. Everyone was equally important to Stevie. She always made time to make sure people felt loved and cared for, no matter what her own circumstances may have been. Just like any skilled professional, Stevie practiced these traits when no one was looking. She made time each day to read her Bible and journal what was on her heart, ultimately seeking God’s daily guidance.

Stevie’s love for life and people will be carried and applied wherever God may take us. She is survived by her husband, Damen, and son, Ryder; parents, Steve and Suzie Crowder; sisters, Tyler and Bailee Crowder; brother, Conner Crowder; aunt and uncle, Vickie and Mike Southward; and many cousins.

Even in Stevie’s passing from this earth, she is still showing compassion for other individuals who have had to deal with the unfortunate reality of brain cancer affecting their families. Stevie donated her body to the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern to help find a solution for those who will be diagnosed with glioblastoma in the future. Stevie’s experience with brain cancer was the inspirational force in bringing the “Head for the Cure” to North Texas.
