Susan Marcum

Susan D. Marcum, 57, of Sedalia, died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at her home from a long 19-month battle with brain cancer.

She was born April 21, 1955, the daughter of James and Betty (Vogelsmeier) Vickrey.

On July 7, 1979 at First Christian Church in Sedalia, she was united in marriage to Michael K. Marcum of Sedalia. Susan was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Her family was very important to her, and she was very proud of her daughters.

Susan completed her Associate’s Degree in Accounting at State Fair Community College in 1976. She was a Deputy Clerk for the Pettis County Circuit Clerk’s Office. Susan also spent more than 20 years working as a legal secretary in Sedalia. Mizzou football and tailgating were an important part of her life. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family; she will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

Susan is survived by her husband, Michael; her daughters: Krystal D. Marcum and her fiancé Brad Girton, of Kansas City, MO and Kelley R. Wittenborn and her husband Scott, of Columbia, MO; her mother and stepfather, Betty Ann and Charles Zimmerschied, of Sweet Springs and her brother, Steve (Debbie) Vickrey, of Sweet Springs.

At the service held for Susan on Thursday, August 23, 2012, Susan’s family and friends raised $800 for Head for the Cure Foundation.
