Beer for Brains Foundation Joins Head for the Cure – New Fundraising Initiatives to Support Brain Cancer Research

For 17 years, Head for the Cure Foundation has been a driving force in creating grassroots action for the public to support the brain cancer community and scientific research. Since 2010, Beer for Brains Foundation has been raising funds through unique large-scale craft beer fundraising events for brain tumor research.  Beer for Brains is now bringing its community events and fundraising into Head for the Cure as an additional program to raise awareness, funds and hope for the brain tumor community.

The Beer for Brains Foundation and its founder, Louis Dolgoff, will lead the event production, programs and fundraising efforts at these events.

Head for the Cure’s founder/Board President, Matt Anthony, the Board of Directors, and Executive Director, Jenna Heilman, will oversee all activities, programs and grants from the organization.

“Brain cancer remains one of the deadliest forms of cancer. The need for innovative research is severe, as is the need for hope, whether one is a patient, caregiver, family, friend or supporter. Head for the Cure and Beer for Brains have both built their fundraising operations around events for the brain cancer community. These events, held in cities across the country, are a moment when people can come together, raise money for research, reaffirm hope, and celebrate those fighting for their lives, as well as remember those lost,” Matt Anthony said.

The Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to growing Head for the Cure events around the country and deepening partnerships with cancer centers in our event cities.  Each event supports a local brain tumor center to advance their research and programs.

The research grants made possible by these events will continue to follow the model Head for the Cure has used for the past several years: a portion of the net proceeds is distributed as a grant to the local partner cancer center and an additional portion is set aside to be granted to the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative (BTTC), which uses it to design studies with its member institutions.

“Having worked in the craft beer world since 1997 and doing events all over the US, I used my two passions, beer and fighting brain cancer to form The Beer for Brains Foundation in memory of my late wife Laurie,” Louis Dolgoff said.
