Having never been to culinary school, Jason’s cuisine, has been developed , not in a classroom, or a fancy kitchen, although he has worked in some pretty cool spots through the years. We won’t bore you with a long drawn out list of places he has been fired from, but He will say his first real taste of greatness, was the dish pit at Roy Yamaguchis first spot in Hawaii Kai, he saw the passion someone could have for food, and the joy one could feel, watching ohana , praise your work. He has worked along side some of the countries best and most dedicated food trucks and truckers, the passion these people show for what they do is unmatched . Born in Los Angeles, teen years and early adulthood spent on Oahu, and relocated to Portland , Or…now located in Phoenix, Jason has been extremely fortunate to be in the middle of some amazing culinary scenes. Having owned and operated a bar and grill for ten years, a breakfast and lunch house as well, while in Portland, the food truck scene was exploding, Jason decided to roll the dice and get on board. The Flyin’ Hawaiian was born in late 2011 in the 503, it was a fierce market, but the island flavors Jason brought to the table, paired with a pure aloha vibe at the truck, quickly floated the Flyin’ Hawaiian to be included with some of Portland’s most talked about street food vendors. Now in his fourth year on the streets of Phoenix, Jason has been extremely fortunate to be met with such aloha from his peers, he tries to give a little aloha back to each person that visits his truck. The motto at the truck, is “live aloha” we try to put a little aloha on every plate, he hopes that every plate has a little taste of aloha, and every person leaves full and satisfied with the purchase they have made. Jason does not print paper menus at the truck, his menu is always evolving and changing, don’t be scared to request something, you may just see it next time you pop by the truck. Jason has been married to his wife Jill for almost 20 years, they have a son , Izajah 20 yrs old, and twin daughters , Christina and Jahsmyn who are Turning 15 this month.
