Each year, hundreds of teams participate in our annual Head for the Cure 5K – Metro KC. See Matt Run has participated in honor of Matt Mendlick who is a 10 year brain cancer survivor. I grew up in Olathe, KS and had a big group of friends I graduated with. I was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2008 while finishing a Radiology Residency. My family moved back to Omaha after we finished training. I heard about the HFTC KC race and thought it would be great to make a team filled with my old friends.
For the last 10 years, team “See Matt Run” has been going strong. We make new T-shirts for each race, and we all get together before the race and catch up on the old days and the new ones as most of us all are busy with families now.
This race has been an inspiration to me and my friends have been so supportive even though we live in different places. They are truly great friends/people!!!
