Each year, teams participate in our annual Head for the Cure 5K – NC Triangle. Team #LiveLikeVincey is participating in honor of Vincey’s courageous battle with brain cancer. We “head for the cure” for Vincey. When thinking about Vincey, the first thing that comes to mind is the giant bear hug she would give you, even if she didn’t know you, accompanied by her huge signature smile. Her enthusiasm and love for others was contagious, she truly saw the best in everyone she met and poured life into you at the moments you needed it most. She didn’t just speak her faith, she served overseas, at her church, and on the UNC campus volunteering. Even when she was diagnosed with brain sarcoma, she was still only concerned with making sure that everyone else was okay and was unwavering in her optimism until the end. She passed away a short few months after being diagnosed at only 21 years old. When we lost her, the many communities she was a part of were left with a void that will truly never be filled. However, we continue to share her legacy, support future research, and #LiveLikeVincey
