Omaha Team Spotlight – Three Little Birds

Each year, teams participate in our annual Head for the Cure 5K – Omaha.  Three Little Birds celebrates the life of Kevin Duling, who lost his battle with a GBM.  An avid runner and Bob Marley fan, Kevin’s daughter and supporters continue to fight this battle in his memory to help raise funds, awareness and hope for the brain tumor community. By participating in this event, you are helping to support brain tumor research and programs at Leap-for-a-Cure and the Fred & Pamela Buffet Cancer Center.  Learn more about Three Little Birds!

My name is Meredith and I am the team captain for team “Three Little Birds”. This is our 5th year participating in Head for the Cure – Omaha, and we run in honor of my dad, Kevin Duling, who lost his battle with a glioblastoma multiform brain tumor in 2003. Our team name comes from the Bob Marley song, Three Little Birds – Kevin would listen to this song during his illness when he felt overwhelmed or scared.

Kevin was an amazing and energetic husband, father and doctor. He truly enjoyed life and participated in so many activities, including running – he ran his final 10k the week of his brain tumor diagnosis.

I think of him every single time I run, so having the chance to run in his honor with so many of my friends, while raising money for this amazing cause is such an awesome experience!
