Team Spotlight – Team Polacheck

Each year, teams participate in honor of a loved one who has fought or who is fighting a brain tumor at the Head for the Cure Brain Cancer Awareness 5K.  Jim and Terri have been committed members of the BCA 5K team since we started in 2014. Jim has been battling Glioblastoma for the past 5 years. By participating in this event, you are helping to support brain tumor research and programs at the Brain Cancer Awareness 5K and Hillman Cancer Center.  Learn more about their updated story.

As of most of you know, my husband Jim has been battling a glioblastoma since February 2013.  He truly has been a miracle! Since his diagnosis, we have moved to Florida, had two of our children get married, had our youngest become engaged, and we have gone from two to seven grandchildren.

During these six plus years, we have never lost sight of the fact that we are the lucky ones. Not everyone with this horrific diagnosis has been as fortunate. Actually, until May 2018, our lives remained fairly normal. Then, things took a turn.  Following a third surgery, Jim has continued to have some struggles. He now either uses a walker or a wheelchair and has gone through extensive therapy, but his tumor remains stable. We continued to consider ourselves blessed!

They recently discovered that Jim has a treatment induced blood disorder that must be addressed. We will face this new challenge with the same fortitude we have faced all the previous ones.

We will live every day to the fullest!  We will make every single day one worth living and fighting for.  More than ever, we want to raise as much money as we can to fight this terrible disease! We truly are in the race of our lives. NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE!
